Green Gambia Initiative for a sustainable future

The Green Gambia project aims to engage schools, youth groups and village communities to be more aware on sustainable conservation of the environment for the attainment of the sustainable development goals. Green Gambia project will galvanize actions to curb climate change and raise awareness on environmental issues facing the Gambia. This project will enhance Green-Up Gambia’s capacity to effectively raise awareness across the country and thus maximizing impact and a win for the environment. It will help to develop the organizations capacity to be able to better effect change with the necessary support.

MAIN ACTIVITIES: Community Sensitization, Seedling Propagation/ Tree Nursery Establishment in schools(Green Clubs), Involving Youth Organizations, School Tour/ Community tours, Tree Planting Challenge

The main aim of this Green Gambia project is to scale up the awareness raising and afforestation programs in schools and communities and further enhance eco consciousness among children. We hope that by the end of 2022, The schools green club program would enhance climate change education in schools Training over 300 students and 30 teachers we hope to reach 800,000 locals indirectly through the media. The project intends to run the seed propagation center to ensure continuity of supply of trees as people get more aware. The project will also enhance capacity for environmental CSOs in policy formulation to foster a smooth start to a green economy through advocating for scaling up nature-based solutions to enhance our community participation and also create awareness at same time.
