Sea level rise
Sea level rise taking over The Gambia's Islands including her Capital, Banjul.
Rising sea level is causing serious climate change impacts on the smallest country on mainland Africa- The Gambia. There are major impacts on the country because so much of economic activities and anthropogenic disturbances including establishment of residential areas on water ways and wetlands are centred in coastal communities with high population density (Bubu Jallow, 1996).
These impacts will lead to the destruction of infrastructure at the Port of The Gambia. Water related disasters around the wetlands and gradual inundation of the city. Low lying areas will suffer more and there is a need for urgent actions.
The Gambia needs a second CAPITAL. Climate Change is REAL, Act Now!
